WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? *READ ME*

As NYC is under a stay at home order, we all need to find new ways to create together. As big proponents to the idea that "you can record yourself!" we wanted to showcase how bands can still record pretty solid tracks with almost no equipment and never being in the same room. We recorded a new version of our song "Linda Schuyler" using only these things:

1. Smartphone
2. Headphones
3. The app "Bandlab"
4. Our regular at home practice equipment

This single is a companion piece to two YouTube videos Eamon produced featuring a step by step how-to on recording this new version of the song. You can start with part one here: youtu.be/Jb3vOkYhE94

To explain the 3 versions of the track featured on this album:

Track 2 is the original track, taken from our EP "Spinning". This verion was recorded in a huge, beautiful studio at Drexel University, and mixed on my (pretty professional) home setup back in 2014.

Track 3 is the new version we recorded this year. It was completely recorded and mixed on a phone. This is the version that comes straight out of Bandlab.

Track 1 is a mastered version of track 3. The master was done in the also-free companion-to-Bandlab software Cakewalk, using two free plugins (the EQ that comes with Cakewalk and "Limiter No 6"). This was done to give it a fair shot against the original version and any other commercially available song, as songs that are pre-master are naturally much quieter than mastered versions.

If you wanted to release a song you recorded on Bandlab, I would certainly suggest giving it a quick master job. It's not hard to get something decent! If you'd like to learn more about it, don't hesitate to ask us!
